2006 Nebraska Boys State Track & Field Meet
We had a good
State Meet. Bret qualified for the final in both
the 100 with 11.14A and a hand held 22.3 in the
200. It was too bad we had the rain on Saturday
morning but finishing 5th in 11.31A was very
good. Bret was 8th in the 200 so was out of the
medals. Our sprint relay was 13th overall with
44.67A. We didn't feel we ran very well. Jordan
did a nice job in the long jump. It was the last
scheduled field event and started 90 minutes
late so that required some adjustment on his
part.
The one thing
you can depend on it the high level of
competition and hundredths of a second and
quarter inches making a lot of difference. We
were pleased to have two athletes in the medals.

2006 Nebraska State District Meet Bret Hoch and Jordan Spirk continued their outstanding season with State Meet Marks. Bret qualified in both the 100 11.1A and 200 23.01A with third place finishes. Jordan was second in the long jump 21' 8.75". These two will be joined by Eric Larson and Jacob Bell in the 4x100 44.19A who qualified fourth. Dannie Caskey got us a personal best sixth place finish in the shot put 47-7 but wasn't good enough to qualify. As a team we had an outstanding day with lots of personal bests and very competitive efforts. We qualified in the events that we thought had a chance. The level of competition and the quality of athletes was something we had not seen this year. If you like good track and field It was very impressive group of teams. We are looking forward to the state meet.
2006 River Cities Conference Meet
Heelan 9-10 meet
It
was nice to get back on the track. The rain has caused some
problems and the throws were cancelled due to the conditions.
It's hard to complain about a good spring rain in the midwest!
We
thought our kids had a good meet. We had some personal bests and
competed well in this meet.
We
were 4th one point out of third. We have our Conference Meet
this Friday so we need to get our kids in the best position to
score some points.
