SSC Girls Track and Field Compete in Districts
The South Sioux City Girls Track and Field team compete in the brutal A-3 District on Wednesday, May 7^th, 2008 in Grand Island.  The field was comprised of 3 of the top 5 teams in last year’s State Meet and lived up to its billing.  South Sioux City’s Girls team totaled 40 1/3 points in what the coaches considered to be a successful day.  Highlights of the meet include McKayla Knudson winning the district championship in the High Jump with a personal best height of 5‘ 3”.  Also winning a district championship was Freshman Tristan Sharp in the Shot Put, with a throw of 39’ 3”.  Additionally, in the Shot Put, the throws team place all three girls in the top 5, with Emily Schroeder taking 3^rd and punching a ticket to state and Cruz Ochoa finishing in 5^th place.  Nikki Hanish was a qualifier in the Long Jump, sailing 16’ 11 ¾” to finish in the 3^rd position.  The State Track meet will be at Omaha Burke Stadium on Friday and Saturday, May 16^th and 17^th.

SSC Girls Track and Field in RCC Meet
The South Sioux City Girls Track and Field team participate in the River Cities Conference meet on  April 30^th, 2008.  The girls managed a 5^th place finish, scoring 58 points, on a day characterized by sickness and injury.  Highlights of the meet include McKayla Knudson winning the conference title in the High Jump;  Nikki Hanish winning and setting the conference record in the Long Jump; and Tristan Sharp breaking  the 30 year old school record in the Shot Put.  What follows is the SSC placers in the 2008 River Cities Conference Meet.

South Sioux City Girls Win DV Invite
The South Sioux City Girls competed in the Dakota Valley Invitational on April 29^th, 2008 and came away with a team victory, totaling 138 points in the process.  That point total tied them for first place with Vermillion in the team race.  The Cardinals’ effort was powered by  73 points in the Field  Events.  The meet was held the day before our Conference Track meet, so we went with a scaled- back version of our team.  The effort was gratifying and an excellent tune-up for the Conference Track and Field Meet.  The following is the SSC placers in the Dakota Valley Invitational.
