Lady Cardinal Volleyball 2005 Season Highlights

  • South Sioux City Lady Cardinals End Season
    Elkhorn downs SSC 3-0 with scores of 25-11, 25-16, & 25-11  [ Record 7-15 ]
    In the serving dept. Sadie Cardwell went 5 of 5 for 2 aces. Lacee Murtaugh was 6 of 6 serving and had 8 set assists.  Kayla Miller was 4 of 4 serving and had 6 kills. Alexa Phipps had 7 set assists.  Emily Schaefer had 6 kills. Rachel Heeney led SSC defensively with 13 digs.  Miller had 7 digs. Murtaugh & Emily Stouffer each had 6 digs.  Nikki Hanish had 2 blocks.
     
  • South Sioux City Lady Cardinals Win the 1st Round of NE Class B Districts
    SSC post 26-24, 25-13, & 25-18 win over Blair  [ Record 7-14 ]
    Leading the Cardinals was Emily Stouffer going 21 of 22 in the serving dept. with 7 aces.  Lacee Murtaugh had 27 set assists and 8 kills.  Kayla Miller added 15 kills and Sadie Cardwell contributed 8 kills.  Defensively, Rachel Heeney led SSC with 18 digs. Murtaugh had 9 digs & 1 block. Stouffer & Cardewll each had 1 block.
     
  • South Sioux City Sweeps Past Elk Point-Jefferson 25-22, 25-8, & 25-16  [ Season Record 5-12 ]
    The Lady Cardinals were led offensively by Kayla Miller with 10 kills. Emily Hanish, Sadie Cardwell, & Emily Schaefer each added 7 kills. Defensively SSC was led by Rachel Heeney with 11 digs & Kayla Miller contributed 10.  Emily Hanish & Nikki Hanish each had 4 blocks
    Elk Point-Jefferson defeated the SSC JV 25-13 & 25-22
    SSC won the sophomore match 25-20 & 26-24
     
  • Wisner Pilger downs the Lady Cardinals 25-12, 25-16, & 25-17  [ Season Record 4-12 ]
    Kayla Miller had 13 kills.  Rachel Heeney had 20 receptions & 12 digs. Nikki Hanish had 12 digs. Lacee Murtaugh had 18 set assists & 10 digs.
     
  • Laurel-Concord defeated SSC 25-12, 25-16, & 25-17  [ Season Record 4-11 ]
    The Lady Cardinals were led by Kayla Miller with 12 kills. Rachel Heeney had 18 digs & 18 receptions. Sadie Cardwell was 9 of 11 serving with an ace. Lacee Murtaugh had 15 assists.
     
  • South Sioux City defeats Sioux City West 24-26, 25-20, 25-23, & 25-15  [ Season Record 4-10 ]
    Kayla Miller had 20 kills to lead the Lady Cardinals - she contributed 14-16 serving with 2 aces.  Lacee Murtaugh had 42 assists and 18 digs. Emily Hanish had 9 kills. Rachel Heeney had 32 digs, Emily Schaefer 10 kills & Nikki Hanish added 19 digs.

  • Sioux City North defeats SSC 25-14, 22-25, & 15-12  [ Season Record 3-10 ]
    Again Lacee Murtaugh led the Lady Cardinals with a perfect 10 of 10 in the serving dept. & adding 20 assists.  Kayla Miller added 8 kills, Emily Schaefer contributed 6 kills, & Natalie Adams scored 5 kills.  Emily Stouffer was also perfect serving going 11 of 11 and Emily Hanish went 6 of 6 with 2 aces. Rachel Heeney had 18 digs and Murtaugh had 11 digs. Emily Hanish 3 blocks & Nikki Hanish 2 blocks.
     
  • Sioux City Heelan Stops the Lady Cardinals 25-9 & 25-15  [ Season Record 3-9 ]
    Lacee Murtaugh led SSC with 7 of 7 serving while contributing 8 assists. Kayla Miller had 4 kills.  Natalie Adams, Nikki Hanish, & Emily Hanish each had 2 blocks.  Rachel Heeney had 9 digs.
     
  • Omaha Skutt Catholic sweeps SSC 25-14, 25-14, & 25-20  [ Season Record 3-8 ]
     SSC was led by Kayla Miller with 7 kills, 11 digs, & 2 aces.  Rachel Heeney had 11 digs & was a perfect 7 of 7 in the serving dept. Lacee Murtaugh contributed 16 set assists & 6 digs.  Emily Hanish 5 kills. Natalie Adams 3 kills.
    Omaha Skutt won the JV match 25-11 & 25-7   Record 4-6

  • Omaha Duchesne clip the Cardinals 25-17, 18-25, & 25-20  [ Season Record 3-7]
    Leading the offensive attack was Kayla Miller with 16 kills.  She had 10 digs & 9 serve receptions.  Rachel Heeney was 10-13 in the serve dept.  Lacee Murtaugh was 11 of 11 serving, contributed 27 assists, & had 10 digs.  Taylor Thorsen led SSC with 12 serve receptions. 
     
  • SSC Defeats Omaha Bryan 25-19, 22-25, & 25-12  [ Season Record 3-6 ]
    Kayla Miller pounded 19 kills.  Sadie Cardwell was 16-18 serving with 4 aces. Emily Stouffer was 11-12 serving with 4 aces. Natalie Adams was 9-10 with an ace.  Rachel Heeney had 14 digs. Taylor Thorsen led the team with 10 serve receptions.  Lacee Murtaugh had 30 set assist.
     
  • Lady Cardinals lose to Mercy 25-19, 21-25, & 9-25  [ Season Record 2-6 ]
    Kayla Miller had 6 kills, 11 digs & was 11-12 serving with 4 aces.  Rachel Heeney & Emily Schaefer each had 9 receptions.  Lacee Murtaugh was 7-8 serving, had 18 set assists, & added 8 digs.
     
  • Omaha Gross sweeps Lady Cardinals 25-7 & 25-10  [ Season Record 2-5 ]
    Rachel Heeney went 4 of 4 & Natalie Adams was 3 of 3 in the serving dept. Murtaugh had 6 assists.  Kayla Miller had 6 kills and Heeney added 8 digs.

    Emily Schaefer was a perfect 7 of 7 from the serving dept. with 2 aces. Nikki Hanish was 6 of 7.  Setter
    Lacee Murtaugh had 9 assists. Emily Hanish & Kayla Miller had 3 kills each. Rachel Heeney had 5 digs.

  • Sioux City East Sweeps past Lady Cardinals 25-21, 25-13, & 25-17   [ Season Record 2-3 ]
    Kayla Miller led SSC in the serving dept. going 11-13 with 2 aces and added 5 kills.  Lacee Murtaugh went
    10-15 serving with an ace & contributed 15 assists, 6 digs, & 3 kills. Rachel Heeney came up with 16 serve receptions & 4 digs.  Emily Schaefer had 7 serve receptions. Nikki Hanish added 7 digs.
    East won the JV match 25-18, 14-25, & 15-11
    East won the sophomore match 25-20, 21-25, & 15-13
     
  • South Sioux City Sweeps Omaha Roncalli 25-17, 25-16, & 25-13   [ Season Record 2-2 ]
    A trio of Lady Cardinals, Emily Hanish, Kayla Miller, & Emily Schaefer, led the attack with 9 kills each.  Lacee Murtaugh added 25 assist & 3 aces and Rachel Heeney contributed 4 aces while going 18-19 in the serving dept. Defensively, Kayla Miller had 16 digs, Heeney 13 digs, and Hanish added 11 digs.  Blocks were recorded by Nikki Hanish (3) & Hanish (3).

  • Omaha Ralston tops SSC in RCC Action 25-14, 18-25, 25-17, & 25-19  [ Season Record 1-2 ]
         Lacee Murtaugh went 21-22 in the serving dept., Kayla Miller was 14-14, & Emily Schaefer was 13-13.  Murtaugh had 37 assists and Emily Stouffer added 6 assists & 2 kills.  Miller led SSC with 13 kills.
    Rachel Heeney had 25 digs to lead the Lady Cardinals defensively with Miller adding 15 & Murtaugh adding 14.  Nikki Hanish contributed 8 blocks, Stouffer 6 blocks, & Emily Hanish 5 blocks.
    Ralston won the JV match 25-16 & 25-17
    South Sioux City won the sophomore match 25-11 & 25-21
     
  • Beatrice gets past SSC 25-17, 25-23, 18-25, & 25-20   [ Season Record 1-1 ]
    Kayla Miller led SSC with 17 kills, 12 digs, 2 ace serves, & 1 block.  Lacee Murtaugh had 24 assists and 2 ace serves.  Emily Schaefer had 8 kills & 8 digs, while Rachel Heeney led the Lady Cardinals with 23 digs.  Emily Hanish contributed 4 blocks.
    Beatrice won the JV match with a pair of scores of 25-18.

     Leading SSC was Kayla Miller with 10 kills & 6 ace serves.  Lacee Murtaugh added 25 assists & 9 digs.  Rachel Heeney contributed 12 digs, Emily Schaeffer 6 kills, and Jackie Humphrey 5 kills.
