State Results:
  • The South Sioux City wrestlers completed the 06-07 wrestling season this weekend at the Nebraska State Wrestling meet at the Qwest Center in Omaha. Donald Ferris led the way for the Cardinals finishing fifth. SSC finished 20th as a team scoring 25 points. The wrestlers ended up 10-6 dual meets and had three wrestlers win 30+ matches--They were Aaron Satterwhite--32 wins, Donald Ferris with 31 and Luis DeAnda with 30, other state qualifiers were Angel DeLao, Eric Barber, and Sergio Guererro.

District Results:  South Sioux City scored 87 points & finished 5th in the team standings

  • Luis DeAnda won a 14-5 decision in the district championship match at the 112-pound weight class qualifying him for the NE Class A State Tournament.
  • Sergio Guerrero finished 2nd in the 103-pound weight class & qualified for state
  • Donald Ferris finished 2nd in the 140-pound weight class & qualified for state
  • Angel DeLao finished 4th in the 145-pound weight class & qualified for state
  • Aaron Satterwhite finished 4th in the 171-pound weight class & qualified for state
  • Eric Barber finished 4th in the 285-pound weight class & qualified for state

 

SSC wrestlers competed this weekend in the River Cities Conference Dual Competition. The wrestlers won one dual and lost 4 ending there season dual record at 10-6. Wrestlers winning five matches on the day were Aaron Satterwhite and Donald Ferris. Wrestlers going 4 an 1 on the day were Santos Gonzales and Eric Barber.


South Sioux wrestlers finished fourth at the Omaha Roncalli Invite. We ended up with nine place finishers. First was Angel DeLao, 2nd Donald Ferris, Third Sergio Guererro, Luis DeAnda, Santos Gonzales, Fourth Corby Larson, Moses Pacheco, Aaron Satterwhite, and Eric Barber.

South Sioux City Wrestlers won a single dual last night against Omaha Roncalli, 75-6. This brought the dual meet record to 9-2.

South Sioux finished fourth in the highly competitive field at the Hartley-Melvin Sanborn tournament with 162 points

  • Placing for South Sioux were Sergio Guererro-4th, Luis DeAnda- 2nd, Corby Larson - 2nd, Moses Pacheco-4th, Donald Ferris-4th, Angel DeLao-1st, Aaron Satterwhite-1st, Ryan Herron-4th, Nick Long-3rd, Eric Barber-2nd. SSC place 10 out of 11 wrestlers in the top 4.

South Sioux City Wrestlers won two duals over the weekend, beating Stanton 48-24 and North Bend Central in a 36-35 thriller.  Team record is now 8-2!

SSC Grapplers Defeat Wayne in a Dual Meet:  Final Score was SSC 47 Wayne 32

  • Match winners for the cards were Sergio Guererro, Juan DeAnda, Ricardo Limon, Donald Ferris, Angel DeLao, Ricardo Franco, Santos Gonzales, and Aaron Satterwhite.

South Sioux City Scored 145.4 points & finished 4th in their own South Sioux City Invite

  • Donald Ferris was champion of the 140lb. class improving his record to 13-3 on the year.  Luis DeAnda was runner up in the 112lb. class.

The South Sioux Wrestling team dropped two duals last night leaving their record at 5-2

  • SSC lost to Sioux City West 37-31 and North 59-21. Two match winners for the Cardinals were Luis DeAnda and Donald Ferris.

South Sioux City wrestlers finished fourth in the Maple Valley Anton-Oto Invite

  • Place finishers for the Cardinals were Donald Ferris, Luis DeAnda, and Angel DeLao who all finished 2nd, third place finishers were Sergio Guerrero & Aaron Sattewhite, finishing fourth were Mike Garvey and Aaron Rave and Corby Larson and Eric Barber finished 5th.

SSC defeats Sergeant Bluff with a 43-30 win and also defeated Lawton-Bronson.
Wrestlers ran their dual record to 5-0

  • Individual winners for the cards were Juan Sanchez, Luis DeAnda, Corby Larson, Alan Rave, Moses Pacheco, Angel DeLao, Aaron Sattewhite,and Eric Barber.

SSC Wrestles finished 7th in the Blair invitational scoring 68 points

  • Placing in the top four for the Cardinals were Luis DeAnda and Donald Ferris 2nd. Angel DeLao was third, with Aaron Satterwhite finishing fourth.
