This is by far the best team race we have had all season. It just wasn't good enough to qulaify any individuals or team to the State Meet. We are all disappointed in not having a qualifier. It doesn't get any easier next year as Alejendro figured out; 24 of the top 30 return next year.....
We appreciate all the classroom support you have given us this fall. I know many of you have congratulated and encouraged our runners. We appreciate your support. We are having a tail-gate party before the game tonight.

We certainly would like to have finished higher in the team standings. Our athletes did run very well. Most all of our kids ran their best race of the season and compete very hard. We ran well as a team and had a good racing effort from all our runners. We have about a month left to try and put our team together for the District Meet. We all seem to understand the need for the training we require.

Obviously, this is a very good cross country meet. I doubt the State Meet will be anymore difficult. The Norfolk Invitational enters schools that are devoted to the sport of cross country. We have alot of young/first year runners that are multiple sport athletes.
We wanted them to see how good cross country teams can be. We showed alot of improvement from last year. All we can do is continue to train hard and focus on improving our times. I know our kids are working very hard due to the number of running injuries we have had. Running while injured is never our goal but says alot about the efforts of our students.
We did not enter a varsity team in the girls. With most of our team made up of first year runners. We felt the JV race was where they belonged.

Both our teams looked a little better . It's hard to tell coming off a three day weekend. Some kids workout hard and maybe don't race as well.
Some rest and race very well. We set some race goals that we met. We have some ability but need to be focused on training especially the weekend long runs.
In the Boys Varsity race the Wayne kids ran away from us the last 800 meters. We need to get stronger and more confident that we can finish hard.
We still have alot of young guys that need to learn to race for 5000 meters.
This was the first opportunity for our middle school kids. Most of our top place finishes ran last year so they had some idea about what it takes.

Middle School Girls

3rd Rebecca Cantrell 11.54

It was nice to see the girls win with five runners. We always talk about everybody matters and how important all places are. It's not often your fifth place finisher wins the meet. Brittany competed really well and stayed with the Wayne girl and out kicked her. Kelsie and the rest just ran good smart races.

This was the first opportunity for our middle school kids. Most of our top place finishes ran last year so they had some idea about what it takes.

Taking the top seven places was pretty impressive. We didn't have many girls in this meet most of them are just starting to run this year.

Hopefully we'll have a full girls team at Norfolk.

Like most first meets, the teams that have run all summer do well. We were satisfied with the effort of our runners. We need to get better as a team.
We have been raising the level of our workouts and should see results as the season moves along. Getting that first race in is important. Our kids get a better understanding of what it takes to be successful in cross country.
