About Supts. On
My name is Vernon Fisher and I am the very proud superintendent of the South Sioux City Community Schools. “Supts. On” is an attempt to share what is happening in our schools and provides us an opportunity to brag about what is occurring in our classrooms. This first version of “Supts. On” briefly introduces what we have been working on.
The nature of education has changed significantly over the past five years and schools are now compared with schools across the state in an attempt to measure the quality of education offered to all students. Schools across the state of Nebraska are working to address the academic needs of all students and equipping them with the knowledge and skills to be successful in life after high school.
The Cardinal Family of South Sioux City Community Schools is doing just that. We are aggressively reviewing what was offered in the past to identify the practices that challenge students, and we are redesigning the educational experiences we offer students. We are reviewing curriculum to ensure students are on grade level in reading, writing, and math by the time they finish third grade. We are revising course offerings at the high school to ensure students are prepared for college and/or careers. We are ensuring students are uniquely prepared to thrive personally, socially, and academically.
Future versions of “Supts. On” will focus on the importance of attendance, Nebraska State Assessments, and parent involvement. Please go to our district website at www.ssccardinals.org for more information or please call me at 402-494-2425 if you would like to visit more about our schools.
