ESSER III Information & Links

The ESSER III funding enables Nebraska school districts to promote safe school operations and equity-driven, sustainable, evidence-based programs to serve students – especially those who are the furthest from opportunity – and to continue to strengthen teaching and learning.

Congress passed three separate stimulus packages to prepare for, prevent, and respond to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic – The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act, and the American Rescue Plan. All told, Nebraska K-12 public education will receive an influx of nearly nearly $854 million. These three sets of funds are part of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund, with 90 percent of funding going directly to school districts. The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) reserves 10 percent of funding through a set-aside for statewide activities.

A SSCCS ESSER III Stakeholder Committee meeting was held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at 5:00pm in the High School Library.  The committee  reviewed data from the survey and discussed recommendations for use of funds based on the stakeholder input.  Click here to view the slides from the ESSER III Stakeholder Committee Presentation in the PDF format.

The purpose of ESSER III is to address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on students by combating learning losses, supporting social-emotional needs and ensuring a safe return to the school environment for students.

SSCCS will submit an application for ESSER III funds to the Nebraska Department of Education which must include input from a variety of stakeholders on how best to use these funds. Your input will directly impact how ESSER III funds are spent across SSCCS campuses and the district. Please take a few minutes to provide your feedback. Thank you in advance for your input and participation.
