1:1 Laptop Info
1:1 Laptop Initiative – One laptop for every student
South Sioux City High School 1:1 Laptop Program
The focus of the 1:1 Project at the South Sioux City High School is to prepare students for their future, a world of digital technology and information. As we enter the second decade of the twenty-first century, excellence in education requires that technology is seamlessly integrated throughout the educational program. Increasing access to technology is essential for that future, and the learning tool of these twenty-first century students is the laptop computer. The individual use of laptops is a way to empower students to learn at their full potential and to prepare them for the real world of college and the workplace. Laptops encourage students to solve problems and think critically by stimulating analytical thinking. Learning results from the continuous dynamic interaction among students, educators, parents and the extended community. Technology immersion does not diminish the vital role of the teacher. To the contrary, it transforms the teacher from a director of learning to a facilitator of learning. Learning with Laptops integrates technology into the curriculum anytime, anyplace.

To High School Parents and Students:
We are extremely excited that our district has made a commitment to provide laptop tablets for everyone of our High School students this year. While most students have had some experience with laptops, the tablets are a little different and take a little additional care. To ensure that we don’t un-intentionally damage the laptops we will need to have parent and student meeting to cover proper laptop care and proper usage. Below you will find a date and time when we will need you to come in with your student for the meeting in the high school Little Theatre. In addition, this evening you will receive your students schedule and will be able to meet with your student’s teachers in their classrooms. This night we will be issuing student their laptop after we have both a signed parent agreement and student agreement. (These are enclosed in this letter.) We will not issue a laptop until we have both agreements.
