About Us
Harney Elementary is a three-section building, serving students in grades K-5. Its population reflects the diversity found in surrounding neighborhoods.
The Harney staff is a committed group of professional educators who explore research on best practice and continually focus on instructional strategies that positively impact student learning. Teachers and specialists provide students with a high quality education in a positive and caring environment. Classroom curriculum includes the traditional core content areas. Students also receive instruction in art, P.E., guidance, library and technology. Individual needs of students are met by a variety of programs supporting student learning including ELL, SPED services and differentiation in all classrooms.
Harney Elementary recites the Pledge of Allegiance daily at 8:00 a.m.
Parent involvement is encouraged through opportunities to participate in classroom activities, volunteering and an at home reading program in which families had two opportunities to participate in One School One Book.
