NE State Wrestling Meet:
The South Sioux City Cardinals finished 15th scoring forty-three points. Derek Geddings won top individual honors defeating Spencer Randazzo of Lincoln East in the finals (7-1). It was Derek's 2nd consecutive state title. We had seven other wrestlers competing in the tournament with three others making it to the third round of consolations--Bart Kent, Sammy Flores, and Rene Delcid were one match away from medaling. The Cards had a very successful season and state tournament.
The Cardinal wrestlers took the mat on Thursday in the first round of state competition. The Cardinals won four first round matches and one quarter final match. Winning first round matches for SSC was Austin Johnson 113, Rene Delcid 132, Sammy Flores 145, and Derek Geddings at 195. Derek advanced to the semi-finals beginning tonight at 5:00 with pin over Zach Dawe of Papillion LaVista. Wrestling begins today at 12:30 PM for Byran Padilla, Adam Nieman, Jorge Martinez, and Bart Kent. Winners of first round consolations will wrestle immediately following in second round consolations. Austin Johnson, Rene Delcid , and Sammy Flores will begin their quest for a state tournament medal starting with second round consolations this afternoon. All this can followed on Trackwrestling.com.

NE District A-2 Wrestling Meet - 8 Cardinals Qualify for State - Congratulations!
The South Sioux City Wrestlers competed in the District A-2 wrestling meet Saturday at Omaha Burke HS. The wrestlers finished third in the eight team district with 114 points behind Omaha Burke 213 and Bellevue East 160.5-Bellevue West, Lincoln East, Lincoln Southeast, Papillion LaVista South, and Omaha South rounded out the field. The Cardinals qualified 8 individuals for the state meet in Omaha. Individual qualifiers were Bryan Padilla 106, Austin Johnson 113, Adam Nieman 126, Rene Delcid 132, Sammy Flores 145, Jorge Martinez 182, Derek Geddings 195, and Bart Kent at 220.
South Sioux City Triangular with Sioux City West & Spencer, IA
The Cardinals dropped a dual to Spencer 48-25, and defeated West 45-33, West then dropped a dual to Spencer 70-6.

Gretna Tops the Cardinals 54-16 in Dual
The South Sioux City wrestlers competed in a very exciting dual against Gretna, but the Cardinals dropped the dual 54-16. SSC winners were Austin Johnson 113, Rene Delcid 138, Jorge Martinez 182, and Derek Geddings 195.

LeMars Invitational
The South Sioux City Wrestlers competed in the LeMars Invitational and finished third in the eleven team event with 164.5 points behind Sergeant Bluff and Sioux City North. Placing for the Cardinals were 1st place Austin Johnson, Rene Delcid, and Derek Geddings. Bart Kent finished second. Sammy Flores finished third. Placing fourth for the Cardinals were Austin Johnson, David Frost, and Kody Keefer. Adam Nieman finished fith. Brandon Crowe and Brody Plummer placed sixth.
South Sioux City Defeats Wayne 62-15 in Dual
The South Sioux wrestlers took action on the mat Tuesday night against the Wayne Blue Devils. The Cardinals won the dual 62-15. Pin winners for the Cards were Austin Burton at 106, Rene Delcid 132, Sammy Flores 145, Lucas Peevy 152, Brody Plummer 170, and Bart Kent at 220.

The Cardinal wrestling team dropped a dual to Sioux City North on Tuesday December 6th 33-48. Match winners for the Cards were Austin Johnson at 113, Rene Delcid at 132, Jorge Martinez 182, Derek Geddings 195, Bart Kent 220 and Kody Keefer 285. Congratulations goes out to Derek Geddings for winning his 100th career match. The South Sioux City Wrestlers competed in the Blair Invitational on Friday afternoon and evening.
The Cards came up with a fourth place finish scoring 122 points wrestling without two varsity regulars. Winning the tournament was Millard South with 192 points, Blair with 172.5, Arlington with 141 then South Sioux City. Place finishers for the cards were Bryan Padilla 4th at 106, Austin Johnson 2nd at 113, Rene Delcid first at 132, Sammy Flores 3rd at 145, Richie Sanchez fourth at 152, Derek Geddings 1st at 195, and David Frost 4th at 220. Jorge Martinez also finished 3rd at 195 wrestling unattached for the Cardinals.
The SSC wrestlers went one and one in duals last night at Dakota Valley. SSC dropped a close dual to Maple Valley Anthon Otto 33-39 and handed Dakota Valley a 66-18 loss. Two match winners for SSC were 113 Austin Johnson, 120 Brandon Crowe, 132 Rene Delcid, and 195 Derek Geddings.
