We have several exciting happenings today which are connected to literacy.

A reporter from Channel 4 came and read “The Wizard of Oz” book to 2nd and 3rd grade students. The reporter said that this story might be on the 5:00 and/or 6:00 news today and it should be on in the morning tomorrow.

The 2nd and 3rd grade students received a copy of the book “The Wizard of Oz.”  The Community Theater selected our students to receive a free copy of the book.  This ties in nicely with the building trip to the Community Theater on Nov. 28th.

The Rivers Hills Church donated more than 650 books to our students today.

I’ll work together with the reading teachers to so that we can get at least one book to students prior to Thanksgiving break.

Blake, from the Star, came and took a picture of the church members and our reading teachers enjoying the books that were donated.

Our books for the Nov. 20th Parent Reading Night were delivered this morning so we have a new book to give to each K-5 student who comes to the reading night.

Thanks to everyone who helped arrange these great events for students!
