We are excited to host Graduation on Sunday, July 26 at South Sioux City High School. Due to the forecast we have made the decision to move the ceremony into the Mini Dome. We will still honor seven tickets per family, we are asking that families sit together on the bleachers and practice proper social distancing. Each ticket holder will be required to bring and wear a mask. Graduates will be provided a mask.
Ceremony times are based on the beginning letter of your student’s last name.
- For students with last name’s beginning with the letters A-E, the ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM. Link to Live Stream
- For students with the last name’s beginning with the letters F-Ln, the ceremony will begin at 11:30 AM. Link to Live Stream
- For students with last name’s beginning with the letters Lo-Q, the ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM. Link to Live Stream
- For students with last names beginning with the letters R-Z, the ceremony will begin at 2:30 PM. Link to Live Stream
A reminder: all guests will need to arrive in a vehicle with a parking permit. When coming to the parking lot, entry will only be gained through the 33rd street entrances. All guests will enter the building using Door #25 (Commons).
All students will park in the East parking lot and enter the High School building through Door #11. Students do not need a parking permit.
Students, do not bring any valuables with you. Only plan to bring what you will carry with you during the ceremony.
If students have fines, they must be paid in full in order to receive diplomas. We will be collecting fines after the ceremony. All fines must be paid in cash on the day of the ceremony.

To the parents, guardians, and seniors of graduating class of South Sioux City High School:
We are pleased to inform you that the Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2020 will be held in person on July 26, 2020 at South Sioux City High School. This year’s Commencement Ceremony will take place at Cardinal Field (outdoor football field). Due to the ongoing public health crisis, we have several criteria in place to ensure the safety of our students, families, staff, and community.
Ceremonies:
- Four (4) separate ceremonies will be held on July 26. Students will participate in the ceremony based upon the beginning letter of their last name and their school counselor.
- 10:00 am - 11:15 am - Mrs. Swanson’s students with the last names that begin with “A-E”
- 11:30 pm - 12:45 pm - Mr. Craig’s students with the last names that begin with “F-Ln”
- 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm - Mrs. Panowicz’ students with the last names that begin with “Lo-Q”
- 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm - Mrs. Hames’ students with the last names that begin with “R-Z”
Tickets and Parking Passes:
- Each graduating student will receive seven (7) tickets.
- To ensure proper social distancing measures, only seven (7) guests per student will be admitted. Babies and children will require a ticket.
- Each graduating student will receive 2 parking passes.
- To gain entry into the parking lot, each person in the vehicle must have a ticket.
- All guests will enter the parking lot using 33rd Street.
- All guests will exit the parking lot using “C” Street.
- All tickets and parking passes will be mailed to graduating seniors in the near future.
Arrival and Departure:
- Each ceremony will start promptly at the designated time. Please make every effort to arrive ahead of time to ensure a dignified ceremony for our students and families.
- The parking lot will be open for entry 30 minutes prior to each designated start time. Please do not arrive sooner than that so that we are able to properly clean and set up for the next ceremony.
- Once the ceremony has finished, students and families will have approximately 30 minutes to take photos with family.
- We ask that all guests exit the premises as quickly as possible when finished with photos so that we are able to properly clean and set up for the next ceremony. All guests will be required to exit the field and parking lot by the designated ending time.
Students:
- All students will arrive at the High School one (1) hour prior to the start of their ceremony.
- Student will park in the east parking lot and enter the school using Door #11.
- Students will need their cap, gown, and any honor cords that they earned. All honor cords will be mailed to students in the near future.
Safety Procedures/Precautions:
- All students, guests, and staff are encouraged to practice strict social distancing processes before, during, and after the ceremony.
- Please sit with only the people that you arrived with and/or family members.
- We encourage the use of masks (bring your own) and we will have hand sanitizing stations available.
Guests:
- All guests will need to present a ticket upon entry into the parking lot and upon entering the football field.
- Please bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on as guests will be seated on the football field.
Inclement Weather:

If there is inclement weather, the outdoor ceremony will be canceled. Students will have an indoor ceremony at the designated times, but unfortunately, guests will not be allowed. All ceremonies will be filmed and streamed.
Live Streaming:

All ceremonies will be live streamed using a link from www.ssccardinals.org. Once all ceremonies have been completed, the clips will be edited to include the welcoming, the valedictorian address, and Mr. Strom’s message. Once compiled, the district will release a video that aligns with our typical graduation ceremony.
