National School Counseling Week
National School Counseling Week highlights the unique contribution of school counselors and the tremendous impact they have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. The mission of school counselors is to do the best job they can for students under their guidance and care.
School counselors are actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents. They work in partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world. School counselors focus on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, postsecondary and social/emotional development, and work with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves. At South Sioux City, our school counselors are the core of "Helping Build Better Humans".
School counselors are certified, experienced educators with a master’s degree in school counseling. The combination of their training and experience makes them an integral part of our district.
School counselors offer support to students in so many ways. This week we celebrate their efforts, hard work and dedication. This week we celebrate them.
