About Us

South Sioux City Middle School has approximately 850 students from sixth to eighth grade. There are two teams organized for each grade.  Our schedule is uniquely designed to meet our students' needs and challenges. We have 90-minute block classes in math and reading/language arts. Science, social studies, and exploratories run 45 minutes apiece. Each day, all of our students are engaged in two exploratory class periods and have a 30 minute WIN time to get the help they need. 

We offer a variety of exploratory and elective classes including band, choir, Journey to Success, Character and Community, Health, PE, Art, Keyboarding and Computer Application classes. Classes may run from a quarter to a whole year. With some classes, we have an A/B schedule. Our band and choir performs at least twice a year. Our students have athletic opportunities as well. We offer Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Track, and Soccer. Students can take advantage of performing in plays and participating in other non-athletic groups throughout the year, such as Geography Bee, Math Counts, Knowledge Masters, and Book Club.
