If your student has not yet completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we want to make you aware of an upcoming opportunity for personalized, one-on-one assistance right here at South Sioux City High School.
A FAFSA specialist from the EducationQuest Foundation will be on site to help families complete the FAFSA:
Wednesday, January 14
Thursday, January 15
These sessions are appointment-based to ensure families receive focused, individualized support.
Completing the FAFSA is now a graduation requirement in Nebraska for high school seniors unless a waiver is submitted. In addition, the FAFSA is required for students to receive federal, state, and college-based financial aid. Colleges cannot issue financial aid packages without a completed FAFSA on file.
Families who have completed the FAFSA for an older sibling may already have an existing FSA ID, which can be helpful. However, families should not hesitate to schedule an appointment even if they are unsure what information they have or feel stuck in the process.
If you don’t know where to begin, are missing documents, or have questions, that is exactly why these help sessions are available.
EducationQuest services are provided at no cost, and the organization also assists families with students who are already enrolled in college and need help completing the FAFSA. Additional details on preparing for a FAFSA appointment and required information can be found on this form.
Victor, the EducationQuest specialist assisting families, has extensive experience with FAFSA completion and provides support in both English and Spanish.
Because Victor is the only specialist available on these dates, appointments are required. To schedule an appointment, please call EducationQuest directly at 402-391-4033. Students may also visit the South Sioux City High School counseling office for help with general questions.
While additional FAFSA support sessions will be offered later in the semester, we strongly encourage families to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. Starting early allows time to resolve any issues and ensures students can receive financial aid offers from colleges in a timely manner.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your student’s next steps after high school.
