hack your camp

Students with an interest in technology, coding, and smart devices will have a unique opportunity this summer as Northeast Community College brings its Hack Your Room: IoT Summer Camp to South Sioux City on Thursday, July 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The one-day camp is completely free to attend and is open to students entering grades 8–12.

During the hands-on experience, participants will explore the world of Internet of Things (IoT) technology by working with Raspberry Pi computers, Home Assistant software, sensors, and other smart devices. Camp activities are designed to show students how technology can be used to automate everyday tasks and create connected living spaces.

Students will also:

  • Build automations that allow devices to work together.

  • Learn basic Linux and networking concepts.

  • Discover how smart-home devices can operate locally and securely.

  • Gain practical experience with emerging technologies used in homes and businesses.

The camp is part of Northeast Community College’s summer enrichment offerings and provides an engaging introduction to technology careers while encouraging creativity and problem-solving.

Registration is available online at https://northeast.edu/summer-camps, or participants can scan the QR code on the promotional flyer for more information.

Don't miss this opportunity for area students to get hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology and discover how the connected world works—from the inside out.
