Cov & LC Tours

South Sioux City Community Schools will host two community informational meetings and school tours in October to give residents an opportunity to learn more about the district’s 2026 school bond issue and visit two of the buildings included in the proposal.

The meetings will be held at:

  • Lewis & Clark Elementary School

    — Thursday, October 15, from

    5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

    in the

    gym

  • Covington Elementary School

    — Thursday, October 29, from

    5:00 to 6:00 p.m.

    in the

    cafeteria

Superintendent Dr. Rony Ortega will provide a brief informational presentation at each meeting, followed by an opportunity for community members to ask questions. Tours of each building will also be available.

The district’s 2026 bond proposal is structured so that, if approved, it would result in no increase to the school district’s tax levy.

The meetings are open to the public and are intended to give residents an opportunity to learn more about the proposed projects, ask questions and see the current school facilities firsthand.

The bond issue will appear on the November 3, 2026, general election ballot.
