State Bound! We’re proud to announce our South Sioux City Cardinals heading to the 2025 NSAA State Track and Field Championships Today! These incredible student-athletes have earned their place among the best in Class A, and we’re so proud of their hard work and determination. 4x800 Relay Team – Boys Running an impressive 8:16 and placing 4th at the District 4 Class A Championships, our relay team earned a wild card spot as the 6th fastest team out of all 4 districts! Congratulations to Luke McGinty, Leandro Magaña, Melchi Munzambi, and Melusi Ngeleka! Shot Put – Girls Congratulations to Zulema Godinez for qualifying in the shot put! Pole Vault – Girls A huge shoutout to Madelynn Bohnet, our first-ever Class A State Pole Vault qualifier! She broke the school record, cleared 10’8”, and had some amazing attempts at 11’2”! Way to go Madelynn and Coach Stephen Snyder! 200 Meter Dash – Boys Speedster Avan Salas will represent us at state in the 200m dash. Let’s go, Avan! 400 Meter Dash – Boys Luke McGinty will represent us at state in the 400m dash. Double qualifier — double the celebration! Many of the SSC HS students who earned the Nebraska Seal of Biliteracy were recognized by the school board and proudly presented with their medallions last evening (5/12/25). This honor acknowledges their dedication and proficiency in English and at least one additional language. The Nebraska Seal of Biliteracy celebrates students who have achieved a high level of language proficiency, promoting cultural appreciation and multilingualism. Today, we proudly celebrated Melusi Kalubi Ngeleka during the Believer & Achiever Awards Presentation at halftime of the Girls Class A State Basketball Championship. This prestigious program honors Nebraska’s future leaders, and Melusi is one of just 45 high school seniors statewide selected for his excellence in academics, leadership, and community involvement. As part of this recognition, Melusi is featured on a statewide poster distributed to all NSAA member schools, and in April 2025, eight of the 45 honorees will receive $500 scholarships at a special banquet.
