High School Graduation 2024

Attention Class of 2024:

The end of the school year for our seniors is quickly approaching, and there are some details of which you should be aware.  We are excited for graduation this year.  Graduation will take place Sunday May 19, 2024, at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City. The ceremony will promptly start at 1:00 pm. Seniors need to be at the Tyson dressed and ready to go at 12:00 pm.

Last Day of School for the Class of 2024 (Seniors)

Thursday, May 16th, is the last day for graduating seniors. All seniors are expected to be in attendance that day.  Senior elementary walks will be Thursday, May 16th, starting at 8:00 am.  Seniors need to report to their elementary school with their caps and gowns at 8:00 am. When the elementary walks are complete, students will head back to the high school to check out. Seniors will be checking out with their teachers, coaches, and sponsors that morning starting at 9:00 am. After check out is complete they may leave but need to be at the Tyson Events Center at 1:00 pm for practice (see below).

All fees and fines must be paid prior to Wednesday,  May 8th.  Payments must be made in cash, as checks will not be accepted after May 1st. Seniors will NOT receive their diplomas if their fines are not paid.

Graduation Practice

Practice for graduation will start at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 16th and last until approximately 3:30 pm at the Tyson Events Center.  Digital Solutions will be at practice taking individual pictures.  They will also be at the graduation ceremony taking pictures as students receive their diplomas.  Students will receive a card with an individual code for purchasing pictures online.     It is imperative that Seniors be in attendance for practice on that day.  There will be no early dismissals from graduation practice.

Cap and Gown

Students will receive their cap and gown in early May.  The cap and gown should be checked before May 10th for fit.  The gown should hit mid-calf and be loose fitting.  The gown should be hung up to get rid of the wrinkles.  If you press or steam the gown, please be very careful because the material will melt.

Graduation Day Students:

All students will arrive at the Tyson Events Center by 12:00 pm.
Students will park in the west parking lot across from the Tyson Events Center and enter the bottom northwest corner door by the railroad tracks.
Students will need their cap, gown, tassel, stole and any honor cords they have earned.

Dress

No long dresses with trains will be allowed because they hang below the robe and drag on the floor, which may be a tripping hazard.
Girls should consider the height of the heels they wear.  They will be standing for long periods of time.
All graduates are to wear their caps level on their heads.  No decorations or symbols can be placed on the caps, gowns, or stoles.  All tassels must be the tassel that was received inside the package with their gown.  If a student comes with a non-issued tassel, it will be replaced with the proper tassel.  If a student comes with a cap that has been decorated, he/she will be given a replacement cap.
Students should place their names on the inside of their caps on the lines provided. This makes for easy identification after the ceremony.

Pictures and Video Taping

In an effort to maintain the dignity and solemnity of the commencement ceremony, individual picture-taking will not be allowed from the floor during the Graduation ceremony. All pictures taken during the processional and recessional must be taken from the seating area.
