The Dangers of Social Media and Texting
The South Sioux City Community School District is committed to promoting positive and healthy choices for our students and their families. On Wednesday, February 28th, 2024, National Speaker, Karen Haase from KSB School Law Firm will present “The Dangers of Social Media and Texting”. Haase will discuss legal issues related to social media and phone use.
Haase has a background as an educator. She is cutting edge when it comes to school law and believes passionately that schools should use technology to increase engagement and student achievement. As a result, Hasse works tirelessly to be an authority on the intersection of digital citizenship and education.
Haase shares her legal stories with parents and students at assemblies across Nebraska and at conferences across the nation. She has a straight talk with students about consequences and encourages parents to be aware of what their children are doing on their smartphones.
- Fourth and fifth grade students will be transported to the SSC Middle School for the presentation that will start at 10:00 AM in the Auditorium. Parents and guardians are invited to attend.
- Middle School students will be attending the presentation in the Mini-Dome at 1:30 PM. Parents and guardians are invited to attend.
- High School students will be attending the presentation in the Mini-Dome at 2:30 PM. Parents and guardians are invited to attend.
We welcome parents and community members to attend as Karen discusses the importance of digital citizenship as well as legal issues that parents need to be aware of in today’s society. Parents and community members are asked to enter through door #1 or #12 and check in with the office.
